Here’s What People Are Saying About Windows 8 Traditional Desktop | windows 8 traditional desktop

Many people asking about upgrading old 7″ *old* devices such as laptop/tablet, desktop PCs, and netbooks to Windows 10 – you win, they get continuum. Go ahead and try it for yourself now! There's a twist, however. If you want to change from a traditional desktop Windows 7 to a new “Continuum” (aka. Windows 10 “Mobile”) version of Windows, you have to make one last upgrade to the desktop version of Windows XP.

This will help you “unlock” the full power and benefits of Windows 10 on the device you are trying to use it on. Windows XP users can now use Continuum, while they still have XP on their computer – which is useful if you want Windows to work on your smartphone, tablet, and netbook. However, if you're on Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, then you won't be able to use the “Mobile” experience in Continuum – that's why you have to “unlock” your computer. Here's how.

First, go into Windows Update on your computer and start the process of cleaning up all the leftover junk and other problems on your system. The Windows registry is where Windows stores its settings, so if you check those options which aren't needed anymore, this will help Windows move things back to their proper positions in the registry.

Then, head to the Windows Hardware and Sound Control Panel and remove all of your sound drivers. That will free up space on your PC. After you've done that, install the latest Windows sound drivers, and load them up. Your sound system will run like new again.

To unlock your XP device from Windows 10 Mobile, just head to the Device Manager and check each and every feature that is being used by the device. Find the devices you don't need anymore (for example, the Bluetooth device, USB gadget, or anything else that isn't used by Windows anymore) and delete it. After doing that, press F8 on the keyboard, then click on the “Scan for updates' button, then choose “Check now”.

Then, reboot your XP – or start a bootable installation CD if you're using Windows 7 or newer, and follow the prompts. When Windows pops up the same messages as Windows 10 Mobile, you're done!

Of course, if you don't see any such options in your Device Manager, then it means your computer's BIOS is causing issues with Windows. You need to get into BIOS and find the proper settings for your operating system, and then re-install them, and then set them to what they should be.

If you don't feel comfortable unlocking your computer using the methods above, you can always use the standard Windows XP methods of “unlocking” your computer – by going into Windows Update and removing all the “unused” features. This doesn't really unlock your PC to Windows 10, but it will get your device ready to be able to run Windows 10 Mobile.
